Straight answers
It's a short list, and everything on it has a better home than the back of a dump trailer.
Ty's rule on every load, in his own words: everything is secured, covered, and properly disposed of. Strapped down, tarped before it leaves your property, and taken somewhere it's supposed to go.
A handful of things can't be in that load at all — not because it's inconvenient, but because they're regulated differently and belong on a different route.
The list
Set it to one side and Ty works around it. Finding a can of thinner in a garage isn't a problem and it isn't a reason to cancel the appointment — it just doesn't get loaded.
Paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, car batteries, fluorescent tubes. These are household hazardous waste. Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties all run free household hazardous waste drop-off for residents — check your county's waste department for the current location and hours before you load the car.
Propane tanks. Most places that exchange propane will take an old tank back, often at no charge.
Asbestos, medical and biohazard waste, ammunition. Each of these has a licensed specialist for a reason. A junk hauler is not that specialist, and one who says otherwise is telling you something useful about how he runs the rest of his business.
Everything else — furniture, appliances, mattresses, e-waste, scrap metal, tires, construction debris, yard waste, concrete and dirt — rides in a normal load with no special arrangement needed.
